Insaniah University College has embarked on the teaching of Medicine with the formation of Kulliyyah of Medicine and Health Sciences in 2010. The Kulliyyah has over 15 full time highly qualified academic staff. They are recognized as specialists in their respective disciplines. We are expecting more academicians to report in the near future. We are proud of the fact that for a new Kulliyyah, we are able to attract many qualified and energetic people.
We are located in Alor Setar, the state capital and the royal town of Kedah Darul Aman. The campus is situated in the hub of Alor Setar in Mergong close to the main bus terminal, Shahab Perdana. Currently Faculty of Medicine is sharing this campus other Kulliyyahs. We expect to be the main occupant of the Mergong campus by the year 2013 when the new main campus of INSANIAH in Kuala Ketil is ready as all the other Kulliyyahs will shift to the new main campus.
Kulliyyah of Medicine and Health Sciences offers a 5-year programme leading to the degree of Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS). In Year 1 and Year 2, the students are exposed to the basic medical sciences. Year 3 introduces to the clinical sciences. Subsequently, Year 4 and Year 5, involves consolidation of clinical clerkship in the various clinical disciplines.
The medical training in the first 2 years is done in Mergong campus while the clinical training (Years 3, 4, and 5) is done in Hospital Sultan Abdul Halim, Sungai Petani, Hospital Kulim, Hospital Baling and various other Ministry of Health facilities in the state of Kedah Darul Aman.
The Kulliyyah of Medicine and Health Sciences aims to produce doctors who are not only competent physicians but doctors who epitomize excellence, piety, dignity and skills in their ministry to mankind. Thus our five years training programme encompasses the physical, intellectual and spiritual development of students in order to become ‘complete’ doctors.
The integrated medical curriculum at Insaniah University College is suffused with characterization, interpretation and application of knowledge within the context of Islamic tenets and philosophy.
